about

The place where the land and sky meet is where I’m from, an unobscured horizon.

My dad and I grew up on the same family farm and it has been my muse since his passing on NYE 2004. The farm has been a source of solace but this land has a harshness, a sort of hellfire and brimstone sermon delivered via the weather.

Currently, a father and son lease the land to run cattle, which have really changed the energy of the place for the better. Ever present these days are the low hum of an irrigation rig 2 fields away and the wind as it’s rarely still out there for very long. My favorite days are the super windy ones as can be heard in track 2. The day of that particular recording the wind was so loud, tearing through old structures and ripping away at tin roofs causing the tin still attached to bang like someone slamming an old screen door over and over again angrily. It was so loud that I walked up on a rattlesnake, seeing it a few feet away before hearing it.
